"Oh Be Careful Little Lips..."

I heard an agent talking yesterday about an experience that his seller had with a buyer agent, and it reinforced the importance of being a professional at all times-whether we think others are listening or not.

The selling agent was describing an experience where the buyer agent was showing one of his listings and didn't realize that the homeowner was actually outside of the house doing some work during the showing. The buyer agent complained about the house all during the showing, made insensitive comments about the seller's possessions, and referred to the homeowner as being hired help-all within earshot of the homeowner.

Despite the attitude of the buyer agent, she did write an offer for her clients. The seller was already upset about the whole situation, and received a low offer as well-adding insult to injury. Needless to say, that offer was not accepted.

I do not know if the prospective buyers really wanted the home, but the actions of the buyer agent killed any chance for even a counter. What a shame for everyone involved.
